This vibrant Fuchsia & Blue handwoven Kente mermaid bustier dress is constructed to show off your curves no matter your size. An Internal corset in stretch fabric gives you a smooth silhouette then explodes into an airy double flared train that gives you a regal flourish. The royal blue sash adds to definition and drama to your mermaid look.
I designed and made this dress with AUTHENTIC HANDWOVEN KENTE cloth from artisan weavers in Ghana. This is not factory printed kente fabric. Each 2-yard length takes 4-6 weeks to hand weave strip by strip on narrow looms. Each geometric pattern has spiritual and/or proverbial meaning.
Making a Special Dress

This fully lined dress involves internal sculpting of the bodice with perfect shaping and steel boning to give you smooth contours from the bust all the way to the knees. The strapless bodice stays in place without sliding up or down or sideways due to the silicone grip elastic edge inside the upper back.
The lower skirt features an organza overskirt with horsehair braid edged bridal satin underlining and China silk lining. The attached royal blue sash is also lightweight organza
